Looks like I have lapsed in chronicalling the 3 things I promise myself to do every day. So in the interest of renewing that commitment:

1. Today I learned that love is an action, not a feeling. And the marriage expert from the University of Washington has discovered that marriage quality is maintained if 1 negative interaction between a couple is balanced by FIVE positive interactions!

2. Today I am grateful for my elliptical trainer. I am still a bit fat and jiggly, not that it bogthers me overly much, but the machine gives me a nice place to exercise on a rainy day like today. I like not having to leave home. I am also grateful that I don't have to go to a job.

3. Today I designed the layout for the new gameroom, and that will make Martin happy.

3 things I promise to do every day:

1. Learn one new thing.
2. Be grateful for at least one new thing.
3. Do one thing to make someone else happy.

Super Bowl -- Super Boys

All 3 boys, the husband, 2 dogs, and I are having our own little family Superbowl party. We've got a big tablecloth across the big ottoman and are eating lots of snacks in the living room, this being a special occasion. Some are cheering for the Steelers, some for the Cardinals. 2 minutes before the half, and it's still a game.

I must admit, though, that I was kind of hoping for a clear winner by halftime. I'd like the boys to head upstairs for their baths at 7:00 and go to bed thereafter, without feeling like they are missing anything. Tomorrow morning at 8:00 two of the boys have testing. I'd like for them to be rested.

On the other hand, the next time we watch a Superbowl together, they'll be one year older, a couple of inches bigger, more sophisticated, and one year closer to leaving home. Maybe I'll let them stay up until 2010.
